Motivate is looking for an Operations Manager to oversee a large team in the San Jose area. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in bike sharing operations and expansion in the Bay Area.
Job Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and help to champion a safe working environment
  • Supervise daily operations to maximize customer experience; ensure all operations are carried out per Motivate standards
  • Manage a team of drivers performing bike rebalancing, bike recovery and battery swapping activities, while ensuring productivity and compliance goals are met
  • Manage a team of field bike mechanics, ensuring that bike inspection and repair goals are met and that field repairs are maximized
  • Manage an inventory system for bicycle parts; work directly with supply chain managers to ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner for bike fleet production
  • Managing KPI’s in field and warehouse operations
  • Maintain and enhance quality control procedures for all aspects of the bike shop operation
  • Coordinate large-scale training evolutions to develop and reinforce standardization of repairs
  • Oversee scheduling of employees, including master planning on a biweekly basis, as well as daily updates due to callouts for employee illnesses, vacations, etc.
  • Support ongoing recruitment, hiring and onboarding of hourly, non-exempt team members
  • Provide team members with regular feedback and coaching; conduct periodic staff evaluations and provide formal feedback, issue corrective actions and performance plans as needed
  • Assist in creating and implementing processes to further increase efficiency in obtaining established goals and team management strategies
  • Identify and improve the team’s performance and inspection metrics
  • Complete special projects related to system expansion, retrofits, reworks, and special events
  • Analyze data and create reports as needed and requested
  • Assist in system recovery after adverse weather events or other system shutdowns
About You
  • You have an undergraduate degree with 5+ years of experience successfully managing a people-centric operation; manufacturing, warehousing, or construction preferred
  • You are an experienced manager who leads by example and understands how to best motivate and encourage your team, while completing all supervisory/managerial activities
  • You are a self-starter, with the ability to multi-task, follow-through, think critically, and apply analytical problem solving with a high degree of judgment
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of audiences
  • You are proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Google Apps, Slack, NetSuite and other data, planning & communications software
  • You have previous experience supervising field teams and heavy machinery and loading/unloading equipment
  • You have experience with on-street, public right of way construction
  • You are willing to work in varying weather conditions year-round
  • You have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • You know the Bay Area geography and street layout like the back of your hand
  • You can work hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, including weekends and off hours
  • You can lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time
